Its been a long time I wrote. Not because that I did not find time. The lousy truth was I did not want to spend time writing. This can not be explained. Here I am, back with a message, that I have been supporting for a year almost. Human trafficking. A social initiative from SCMHRD called S.H.A.P.A.T.H which fights against human trafficking. Combating Human Trafficking and bringing about a change in the lives of victims with alternate means of livelihood has been the vision of S.H.A.P.A.T.H.
S.H.A.P.A.T.H stands for Symbiosis Headstart for Awareness, Prevention and Action against Trafficking of Humans. This was kick-started in year 2008 from my college seniors. In the first year of its inception, it undertook a city wide awareness drive about the menace of Human Trafficking across Pune. It conducted an education drive to sensitize the students across schools and colleges in Pune on this grave issue. To convey the message to the Pune citizens, it performed street plays, conducted laptop drives and a peace march in Pune. It also conducted a seminar where eminent personalities from NGOs, Corporates, the Police, the Law Council and students from various B- Schools were invited to share their concerns and experience.
Every year S.H.A.P.A.T.H performs Band drive in the city of Pune for 2 days. The concept behind the band is not only to collect funds but also to garner support for the cause by having more and more people wear our bands. S.H.A.P.A.T.H adopted the Government run rescue centre in Mundhwa, PUNE for the trafficked victims. They do rehabilitation programs with help of community college. Girls over are are trained on various programs like candle making, Jewel making, Perfume making. Also motivational programs are taken up.
S.H.A.P.A.T.H also tied up with Apne Aap Women Worldwide and took part in their signature campaign (COOL MEN DON'T BUY SEX) demanding change in the legislature against human trafficking. Around 10000 signatures were collected and have been mailed to President of India. S.H.A.P.A.T.H takes a stand to end human trafficking.
Join hands with S.H.A.P.A.T.H.
Stolen from dreams
Her lifeless body becomes devil's meal
She asks ‘why life is so harsh’
But answers never come
Lives life of a torn clothAnd her self-respect her soul flies
Is this life has to offer her
No air in her lungs...
No strength in her body...
Her pain pours like rain
She is not for sale
She cannot be bought
For God knows life is priceless
